Language Requirements

Semester Abroad Programs

There are no foreign language requirements for our semester abroad programs in:

• Australia
• England
• Ireland
• Italy
• Korea
• New Zealand
• Northern Ireland

Knowledge of Korean is not required for participation in our program in Korea. However, students are encouraged to learn some Korean before their period of study abroad and are advised to study Korean while attending Yonsei University.

FRENCH, GERMAN, & SPANISH:

To participate in our semester abroad programs in Paris, Nice, Germany, or Spain, students must have a good command of oral and written French, German, or Spanish. This level of comprehension can usually be obtained by at least two years of college level language instruction. All courses in our programs in France, Germany, and Spain are taught in the host languages.

JAPANESE:

To participate in our program in Nagoya, students should have knowledge of oral and written Japanese equivalent to at least one year of college level instruction. In both programs, language courses are taught in Japanese while courses in Japanese culture and society are taught in English.
