It is provided here for your convenience. We strongly encourage students to contact the Korean Consulate that serves their state of residence, and thus where they will apply for their student visa, for up-to-date information before submitting the visa application. TYPE OF VISA: Students participating in Randolph-Macon's exchange program with Yonsei University should apply for a D-2 Student visa.
APPLICATION FORM: Visa application forms are available on several Consulate web sites. To print a visa application (Adobe Acrobat required):
- Go to the web site of The Consulate General in New York
- Click the link on the left to "Visa Service"
- Click the link to "General Visa Information"
- Click the link for "visa application form," under the bullet point labeled "Please Note:"

Visas
Stays up to 30 days: You may enter Korea without a visa for a stay up to 30 days or less for tourism, visiting, or transit to another country when carrying a valid US passport.
Stays Exceeding 30 days: When traveling for more than 30 days, or for any other purpose than tourism, visiting, or transit, a visa must be obtained prior to entry.
In most cases, visas are valid for 5 years, multiple entry, 90 days stay. Those who intend to stay longer must consult with the consular office.
Application Process
- To obtain a visa, contact the Consulate General nearest you.
- Processing time for a visa (FOR US CITIZENS ONLY) is 24 hours, with no exceptions.
- For a D-2 Student Visa you must submit the following:
- Completed visa application form (Address & Telephone Number of Korean Institution are a MUST).
- One recentĀ passport-sized color photo (2" x 2") attached to the application form.
- U.S. Passport, with remaining validity of at least 6 months.
- An admission letter issued by the president of the college or university you will attend in Korea [This document will be sent to Randolph-Macon College by Yonsei University. We will then forward it to the student.]
- $45.00 application fee in cash or money order only
- Prepaid postage envelope with complete address (If sent by mail)
Normally your visa will be available the next business day after you submit all the required documents.

All payments must be paid by cash, bank certified check, or money order. (NO PERSONAL CHECKS OR TRAVEL AGENCY CHECK.) [Money orders are widely available. They can be purchased at U.S. Post Offices, convenience stores, and many other locations.]
If You Are Applying By Mail, please enclose a self addressed stamped envelope. You may use the United States Postal Office, Federal Express, UPS, DHL, or Air Bourne, etc.
