Semester Abroad Programs
Generally, most of the costs to participate in semester abroad programs offered through Randolph-Macon College are covered by the tuition, room, and board charges for full-time R-MC students. These expenses for academic year 2007-2008 are listed on the Tuition, Fees, Room & Board 2007-2008 page maintained by the Business Office.
Semester abroad students will be charged the following during their semester(s) abroad:
- R-MC tuition
- the cost of a regular R-MC dormitory room (Conrad and Moreland)
- the 19-meal-per-week board plan at R-MC
Semester abroad students will not be charged the following for their semester(s) abroad:
- R-MC Student Activity Fee
- R-MC Communications Fee (non-commuters)
Students will receive a refund or credit for the Student Activity Fee and Communications Fee if they have already been paid for the semester(s) in which the student studies abroad
What costs are not covered?
The following costs associated with semester abroad programs are not covered by the tuition, room, board, and special fees paid by full-time students at Randolph-Macon:
- Semester Abroad Program Fee: $200 for participation in a semester and year-long programs.
- Visa: Student visas are required for entry into some countries.
- Transportation: Airfare and in-country ground transportation.
- Books and other course materials
- Housing deposits at foreign institutions: These fees are usually refunded directly to students, after they complete their period of study and depart student housing (not all programs require housing deposits)
- Food and snacks not included in the host institution's meal plan or, in the case of home stay, not provided by the host family
- Expenses specific to each overseas institution, such as the nominal "college fees" charged at Lancaster University and fees for trips conducted by Wroxton College .
- Miscellaneous living expenses
