Name: Andy Martin Country: United States (Lexington, VA) Class: Senior Majors: Spanish, Minor in Secondary Education Contact me at: talmagemartin@go.rmc.eduor (540)460-7431 My self-introduction, backgrounds, and/or comments to the entire RMC community: I am very interested in learning about different cultures, the more the better- hence my passion for language. I am a Spanish major with the intent to teach at some point in my life. I know that knowing as many different cultures as possible will enable me to be a better, more rounded teacher. A little about myself, I am from a small town in western Virginia, called Lexington. It is a very small town that is very university/agriculture oriented. I grew up on a farm my entire life. My family is pretty scattered throughout Virginia, as well as some who live in the Midwest and west coast. However, I find that I am almost closer with the people on this campus than my family at times. Randolph-Macon’s ‘small’ dynamics have an ever-growing influence in all students here. I have met people here that I know I will be close to my entire life. I am a member of the national service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega, the national leadership honors fraternity Omicron Delta Kappa, and the Hispanic honors fraternity Sigma Delta Pi. Aside from these, I was president this past year of Student Virginia Education Association (SVEA) where I worked closely with our state head courters at Virginia Commonwealth University this past year. I have been a student delegate to the Student Organizations Council meetings this past year as well on behalf of SVEA. In addition, I work for the Development Office of R-MC. This gives so much experience in planning effectively as well as interactions with the alumni of R-MC. I try participating actively as much as possible on campus. |
