Service Leaning in New Orleans!
29 Randolph-Macon students – and three faculty members – spent J-term assisting with hurricane relief efforts in New Orleans. This service-learning course explored the human conditions of poverty, race and class, as well as the religious foundations for social responsibility and action in times of natural disasters. While in New Orleans, the class served under the auspices of the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) and assisted with cleanup efforts in the greater New Orleans area. During their two week sojourn, they stayed at Gretna United Methodist Church. These are the students' final projects.
