BELJM: Changing Stereotypes and Lives
On January 7, 29 students and 3 professors boarded a bus for an 18-hour drive to New Orleans, Louisiana. For two weeks, all 32 of us stayed at Gretna United Methodist Church, sleeping on air mattresses and preparing our own food. Throughout the two weeks, we gutted 15 homes, helping 15 families take the first step in rebuilding their lives. While we felt like we touched their lives, they touched ours as well. We met some amazing people and came home with some great memories. Here you can read about what the trip meant to four members of the BELJM team.
