After graduation from R-MC, Katie taught Spanish in a middle school in Craven County, North Carolina. Two years later, life took her back to the mountains as she and her husband moved to Brevard, NC. In Brevard, she has implemented the Spanish curriculum at Brevard Academy, a K-8 Charter School which offers Spanish to all students.

"I love that I get the opportunity to teach children of all ages. The younger kids learn foreign languages so easily. This year, I was able to implement a Spanish 1 class for high school credit for my middle school students. I am not sure where my life will lead next, as my husband is graduating this December. I hope to have the opportunity to travel and experience other cultures. I am even considering a return to school. My experiences at Randolph-Macon helped me to develop a passion for understanding other people and cultures. I feel that this passion is transferred to my students in the classroom, and it can be seen when walking around our campus and hearing the delighted yell across the playground of "Hola, Señora Campbell!"
