French section of the department of Modern Languages hosts a chapter of Pi Delta
Phi, the National French Honors Society. Its purpose is to recognize outstanding
scholarship in the French language, literature, and culture and to increase the
knowledge and appreciation of American students for the cultural contributions of
the French speaking world.
To become eligible for membership, students must complete 15 credit hours in French
courses above FREN 212/215, have a 3.25 GPA in their French courses, and be in the
top third of their graduating class.
Need-based scholarships to support study abroad, as well as SFS Proficiency exams,
are available for Pi Delta Phi members.
