Based on grant funding, a limited number of Richmond-area summer internships are offered for those interested in gaining experience in the public-service and non-profit sectors. These internships are highly competitive, and the host sites evaluate and select their interns. For the past several years, the internships have taken place at Goodwill of Central Virginia and at Hanover Safe Place.
If you are interested in applying for one of these internships, contact Dr. Ed Showalter (eshowalt@rmc.edu), Director of the Bassett Internship Program, no later than March 1.
Your completed resume and any applications are required no later than April 1. (If you do not have a resume, contact the Center for Personal and Career Development (804-752-3103) for assistance.)
Interviews are generally scheduled after that date, and the decision for appointment to the internships rests with the host employers.
Wages & compensation
Interns work 300 hours across a pre-arranged schedule and earn a stipend of $3,000. Payment is made through the College according to the summer staff payroll periods. Time sheets must be faxed to Elsie Cimorelli, Administrative Assistant, Center for Personal and Careed Development, at 804-412-1553.
Once you are approved for this internship, you'll report to the Human Resource Department, located in Peele Hall, to complete I-9 and W-2 forms and to get briefed on timesheet procedures.
