The education department is fortunate to have a successful collaborative relationship with Hanover County Schools. Several of the schools where education students have field work or student teaching experiences are even within walking distance of the campus. Though the college will attempt to accommodate students' needs, students should expect to arrange for transportation to and from local schools for field work and student teaching.
During student teaching, students will have to provide their own meals and housing for one week during the spring semester because the spring breaks of the local schools and the college do not normally coincide. Often off-campus housing can be arranged through faculty or other students. However, student teachers are responsible for making these arrangements and the college will not cover the costs of meals and housing during its spring break.
