Since Virginia's licensure regulations require that students who plan to teach complete both their major plus a minor in education, advance planning is essential for students who will participate in the teacher preparation program. Students preparing to teach should consult with their advisors and the Department of Education (see academic advising link) during their freshman year in order to begin planning a course of study which is in accordance with the requirements of the teacher-preparation program. In the college catalog, each department (with secondary endorsements in education) should have listed the specific course of study that must be followed in conjunction with the education minor.
Those seeking the music endorsement need to plan early with the faculty in the music department to fulfill requirements unique to this endorsement. For Major and Minor requirements go to this link http://www.rmc.edu/Offices.aspx and under Academics select your Major department.
