Chemistry: Facilities
The Chemistry Department is located on the third floor of Copley Science Center. The Department has five teaching laboratories, four research laboratories, one multimedia classroom, and additional rooms for housing instruments.
Through the generous support of Randolph-Macon, the National Science Foundation, the Keck Foundation, the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation, and the Jessie Ball DuPont Foundation, we have acquired a wide array of research-quality instrumentation. We are among the best-equipped chemistry departments in the country with regard to quantity and quality of instruments and student to instrument ratio. Our students are trained to use and optimize each of these instruments via laboratory courses and through their own research projects. Recent graduates from our program have commented on how useful the experience and training with these instruments has been in their jobs or in their graduate school studies.
