The A. Purnell Bailey Pre-Ministerial Program offers an exceptional undergraduate experience, leading to matriculation in seminary and eventually to a rewarding clergy career. We expect that these students will be leaders in the Methodist and other mainstream Christian denominations.

Ryan Middleton, from Covington, Virginia, held internships with Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church and Granbery United Methodist Church in his hometown. He is currently enrolled at Wesley Theological Seminary, part of American University, in Washington, D.C.

Mayjean Deem, from King George, Virginia, held internships in the mission and global ministries office at the Virginia United Methodist Conference in Richmond, Virginia and Fairview United Methodist Church. She is currently enrolled at Emory University’s Candler School of Theology in Atlanta, Georgia. This standout student received the Theology school’s highest award of a full scholarship and living stipend.

Hilary Holman, from Montpelier, Virginia, held internships with United Methodist Family Services (UMFS) and with the homeless ministry at Virginia Beach United Methodist Church. She continues to work for UMFS. While a student at R-MC, she spent countless hours as a member of the Ashland Volunteer Fire & Rescue Squad. Holman is enrolled at Union Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Richmond, Virginia.

Katherine “Kate” Hahn, from Arlington, Virginia, held an internship with ChildFund International. She is enrolled at Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia.
