Timeline of Events
Through the years, Randolph-Macon has been sustained by its relationships to an ever-widening circle of people: United Methodists; the communities of Boydton and Ashland, Virginia; loyal alumni; parents; faculty; students and its many benefactors and friends.
This timeline illustrates the college's 175-year history. The struggles to stay alive when two wars nearly closed its doors, the delicate relationship with its founding Methodists, and the economic downturns that stalled progress have given the college the strength and will to survive. The faith in its future illustrated by John Lee Pratt, Rachel Mellon, Ed Estes, June McBroom, Macon Brock, the Birdsong and Chenery families, and many others have insured the college's place among the finest in the country.
